Yeah despite having lots of neoliberals (pro business basically) and other forms of *cough* conservatism, people still believe in the democratic process and regulations. It’s not getting better though, there’s a plague going 'round the globe…

Yr is Norwegian, but afaics they’re pretty good with nearby countries, too. It’s a product of their metreological institute, which seems like a good option privacy-wise. Not that such institutes have to be ad or data ming free, but they usually are.
It should come on all weather apps as a sort of health warning:
DONT FORGET TO LOOK OUT THE WINDOW

Meanwhile, Sailfish OS - the successor to Nokia’s fully Linux-based mobile OS - is about to release a relatively beefy device that has it preinstalled.

But I can’t blame SA.
Despite all his China hate, Trump is helping them along to become the next global empire.

Being fried in a pan, the fire is starting to look comfortable?

A simple case of killing 2 birds with 1 stone: An economically sane decision can be presented as being ethical to generate good publicity with saps all around the world. Particularly effective now that the USA is in such a bad place that people like to sing China’s praises instead.

Italian police will be able to detain suspected troublemakers temporarily before street rallies to prevent them from spreading unrest
Wow.
Trumpism has become a brand of politics. Of course one could also just call it fascism, emboldened by MAGA’s success. There’s more than one EU country now that has fully succumbed. And quite a few partially. Don’t forget those while fascinated by the US government’s atrocities.

Greetings from Finland (literally the other side of the globe).
We went from a solid social-democratic government (and thank doG we had them during Covid, they managed it near perfectly) to an unholy coalition of neoliberals, conservatives and fascists, pardon me, far-right populists.
The results are palpable after a bit over 2 years now; esp. low and no income people are getting fucked over hard, misbehaving fascists make the news, while prestige projects cost a multitude of what was saved from the poor.
And of course they’re harping on immigration, too, although Finland really does not have that many to start with.
But tbh I have no idea how the new regime affects our own indigenous people.
Thankfully this is still a well functioning democratic state and you can’t just willy-nilly “executive order” things.

TBF to OP, the article is pretty critical of the whole grift. If they ever get there at all, it’ll be a pretty basic mid-range phone with an American flag on it, that’s all.
I’d be surprised if even the final assembly in Miami is an actual promise.
I maintain that close to you geographically is better, so I use the services provided by my country’s metereological institute. They also provide human friendly data (much more than the web ui) as json or xml, and I scripted a little app around that. It’s not hard.

Honestly, the Germans too, at least wrt tourism.

“defecating in private yards and raising a fuss when residents pointed this out,”
I wouldn’t be 100% sure but pretty likely. Esp. if alcohol was involved I can think of half a dozen European nationalities off the top.

I know I’m being Don Qixotean, but fuck these headlines that always give the impression that something larger happened.
Like in this case, the lack of a qualifier made me think all Japanese cherry blossom festivals were cancelled, but it was one Japanese cherry blossom festival in Arakurayama Sengen park near Mt Fuji.
That said, I have full understanding and empathy for the residents. Fuck tourists who can’t behave abroad. I wonder if they can’t behave at home, too?

Thanks for pointing that out. However the duopoly OS lump it all together under “Location” and that does involve internetty stuff, too, so bidirectional.

Yes, it’s better to use a phone OS and/or phone hardware that does not do that, or can be relied on that off means off. And yes, even then it’s still possible that firmware blobs do nefarious things.
WRT Mozilla location services: I’m not 100% informed, but there’s yet another alternative. Community-driven iirc.
My bank does not require Google integrity checks. Change your bank?
And yes, cell tower triangulation is always a thing even on dumb phones.

Only if he bankrupts the States in the process. Oh wait…

Kyiv groans a collective ‘WTF?’ to Trump
You and us both, Kyiv.
I’m starting to feel collectively ashamed for “The West” that this war still isn’t over. Please hold tight, I’m sure we’ll get there!
Looks like it. On Debian, it’s part of the
fonts-linuxlibertinepackage, and Linux Libertine O would be the accompanying serif font. This is how they look together:
