I don’t have netflix but, I sometimes will use my parents or grandparents account if i’m visiting their house.

I never got into netflix series mostly due to what has been said here already. There’s no point of investment into a series with a company that has an ongoing reputation of cancelling shows even if they go well, and the ones that do get another season can have multi-year delays between it.

It’s the same issue that a lot of the lesser known Anime’s have, They get greenlit for 1 or 2 seasons, and by the time they get greenlit for s3 all momentum for people wanting to watch it is dead.

To me I would rather just wait and invest my time into something that is actually going to go somewhere, not get pitfalled into a cliffhanger and then never know what happens.

It doesn’t officially say it, but it implies that the current system, they’re sun setting, didn’t have any type of annual fee.

If that is the case, then yeah, I would do the same thing and just not use the program. might be able to backtrack on the agreement to work with the gov as well and just go back to the old system for crew members. Makes no sense to pay more on a system that was working fine as is.

The airlines are in a pretty massive advantage here, delays for flight are already pretty heavily protected legally, as in there are laws baked into the system protecting/restricting airlines being sued for travel delays.

Worst case scenario is they can’t go back to the old program and they just cause mass delays which they can then directly blame the government for with no monetary penalty unless it goes over I think it’s a 6 hour delay.

They actually just integrated the initial framework for this with the last major PS5 update.

They threw it in under the guise that it was a check to make sure that your downloaded games were legitimate, but they added but they added in a required 30-day timer that after 30 days it checks the license on a downloaded piece of software. And if your account doesn’t have the license, or the system isn’t online. It fails to work. This was originally expected to be a constant every 30 days thing, but at last minute they clarified that it was a one-time check to make sure that you didn’t return the device under their return policy.

I have no doubt in my mind that they were originally intending on having this be in every 30 days requiring the PS5 to have to be online every 30 days in order for it to function, but decided to change it last minute when major media companies started reporting that the PS5 was going to officially require online

If valve released a “exchange program” that allows you to trade digital licenses, even for a fee, it would be revolutionary.

I mean it’s a no brainer. if you are forced digital anyway, PC has both steam and gamepass (for pc or ultimate if you also have an xbox). Why lock yourself into an ecosystem that provides no value, when you can go into an ecosystem that not only provides you with most of the Xbox catalog if you want to pay a sub, but also all of the other PC storefronts.

The only reason people ever went console was for the low price, exclusives, the convienence and the physical market. The exclusives have sucked, the price is no longer low, and the physical market has been nuked by an atom bomb.

The question Sony should really be asking here is “why do people buy into our market” because they are actively destroying it.

Yeah, but like all consoles since the 360 and the PS3 had the capability of copying a game disc to the internal storage in order to have faster operation speeds.

All they would really need to do with this is have it so the system copies the game to the drive like it does currently with most physicals, and then the USB drive would be used as a key or honestly they could even just leave it so you don’t need the USB drive hooked up

Relistically, this could probably even work in video games favor because flash drives would be smaller than their DVD counterparts and would be easier to break and also would have shorter lifespans.

with a name like that, I really hope that it has a boot-up sound option where it makes an awoo boot noise.

agreed, Polestar actually is no longer okay sadly, they were just told that their next year’s models weren’t going to be authorized to be sold in the US due to the connected technology that they have in them.

yea, part of me feels since they aren’t planning to take up communication on another platform, that this was less about the hostility on the platform and more they didn’t want to have to pay for the upkeep/social media team/processes to remain on the platform, and are using the hostilities as an excuse.

I second the inotifywait method. Thats currently how I look for new appimages and auto add them to my menus. You can tell it a directory like what you are looking for, and have it only trigger on new files, edited files and deleted files, then have it run an external script when it does.

Advertisements on streaming platforms are not universal across state lines though, the ads on them are localized to your locations.

Adverts as a whole are very location based as locations differ in what types of ads are efficient in that area, what people want and like to see in CA vs what people want and like to see in MA for example are vastly different, and as such you will get different adverts.

There is no incentive for them to just normalize all adverts on their platform, as that will take up more processing power and time and as such more money to do. As such it’s more likely they will just make a separate streaming pipeline that normalizes only ads in the CA pipeline and call it good.

I agree he will try, but I don’t agree he will succeed. Even the big guys want cheaper hardware. Look at CXMT for example. Apple is currently in the process of trying to remove restrictions against the chinese chip producer because it currently is restricted import due to military concerns.

additional content: it doesn’t need to be a non-US company either. They could do the same in the US. All it takes is the capital funding to get the ball rolling. to bring back to example of EV’s, they are getting around that import ban by selling to canada and then having canada sell to the US, as well as working on making factories in the US itself which wouldn’t be effected by an import ban.

Sure it will. As soon as a different company other than the US centric megalords decides to join the market you’ll see prices plummet faster than you can blink. Look at the Chinese EV market for example. They sell them so low that the US is actively banning them for import.

They are already working on chip production, and they have been experimenting with the computer hardware market for years now. Prices remaining stupid high only works in their favor as there is a direct relation to companies users are willing to buy from, and the products price. Eventually you will hit the point where the user is ok with a lesser known company or product if it means saving almost 400$

I’m not saying anyone should buy said products but, realistically you can’t keep prices artificially high forever, eventually someone will take advantage and undercut you. You aren’t going to buy an Xbox at 1k when you can buy something similarly performed for 600, thats why the steam machine seems to be DOA. it’s 2-300$ over current DIY price, and there are consoles for roughly 300-400 less than it so it missed both markets.

I have my doubts. the ad markets are fairly regional and audio normalization at that scale is going to require a bit more processing power to do.

I do agree that normally what the state does trickles to everyone else but, in this case it’s going to be more cost effective to only have the extra processing expense in CA, as they can’t use the same audio normalized ads across the market.

Being said, if this catches on and it becomes a federal thing like how TV broadcast is, I wouldn’t be sad that’s for sure.

This article I think shares my thoughts on it, Arguably I don’t know if the devs even got faster… Like its a nice resource but, there’s so much trial and error involved now, and every prompt now requires essentially relearning a new codebank.

Like sure immediate result got faster… but you lose all that with the extended time taken learning how it works and why it works.

I’m surprised that eBay even allows them to because I think that breaks their seller guidelines. I’m pretty sure merchandise that you don’t physically have on hand You must clearly mark as I don’t have this and as a pre-order and any pre-order is required to be shipped out within 40 days of the sale happening.

I can’t imagine anyone on eBay is able to actually confirm they’ll have it in 40 days

is oracle on life support yet? I know that they been struggling with making anything innovative for years and have done a pretty good job killing any forward momentum/drive to use their products.

This is me, but with my grandfather instead of grandma. He can barely hear anything, so he cranks his TV up too. I think it’s almost 60 now. up from like mid 30’s from 3 years ago.

And yeah, YouTube is a hostile offender of that. He watches everything on a Gemini device, because that device is the only way you can lock in your price for two years. Otherwise, they hold the right to jack you up to almost $50 more a month after 2 months of having service, so I can’t just throw an ad-blocker style thing on it because it’s directly controlled by DirecTV.

And you can always tell when it hits an ad break, because you can literally feel the ad vibrating the floor.

I feel bad for my gram because she doesn’t remember/know how to reduce the volume on her own, and every damn time I turn it down he turns it back up again the next time he enters the room.
