Nah, not even for servers. SLSA and ISO27002. Validation in the other distros is better, and that’s night-and-day for server sector.

I worked Unix in 99-06 and there’s a reason their Linux offering wasn’t debian: that validation hole.

I like cinnamon. Haven’t run desktop Linux since slackware, so it was a breath of fresh air on Nobara.

Tech companies hoping to keep certifications that allow them to get customers do not “move fast and break things”. This kind of ghetto process should definitely hurt business.

For instance: at my day job where I tech-whore to big ents and govs, about 10% of our time is spent only in meetings where we review what’s happening and how: and that kind of transfer would have a schedule, stakeholder sign-off and listed processes to follow and review. There’s post-incident reviews and follow-ups in case of the slightest deviation or surprise, and the process is refined each time. That kind of sloppy work wouldn’t survive.

I hate layovers when it’s less than 8 hours of flight. But I feel that 8 hours is kinda the max before I NEED a layover, just so I can be human for a bit. After 8 hours I make no guarantees as to when cabin fever will set in.

Smart thinking. I don’t use arch (btw) either, so I’m merely a cheerleader at this point. Yes, I’d downgrade the kernel for the sake of Science. Find a popular stable kernel, jump to that and see if it behaves better.

(That may be my bias: I only really do enterprise linux, so after 28 years since I moved from slackware I’m really risk-averse!)
