  • This one will do me, as someone whose profession requires practical adaptation of mathematics in real world environments.

Seeing what I can see with the development of AI, it looks to me that any application which requires intensive calculation to solve one or more direct problems would be its strength but there still would probably need the mathematician (in my case spatial scientist) set the boundaries of what needs to be solved. Pardon the pun.

How AI dealt with variables such as pressure, temperature and heat expansion at certain times of the day within a measurement or several very long baseline measurements would all be dependent on the ‘mathematician’ behind the calculations, for a real example I could give.

  • Because there’s no real unity thus far among the stake holding groups (supporters, players, clubs and associations) in regards to what to do about it as a whole. Corruption to a certain degree in the game has been a thing for a while and it’s been more or less tolerated, to a point. As for supporters, people are just simply reluctant to stop watching and they should, I guess, if they want to do something about it.

The reality is, it will take a unified action by the players, clubs and associations that would really move the dial. That’s hard though because several of them have stakes on dodgy actions themselves and know that change through the main associations might stop that.

A lack of unity and pathway, as much as incentive really. Now the incentive has come along.

  • Well the system was stable enough to put Biden in (on 68% turnout) so something must work. That’s the issue; there’s evidence from that, the Republicans, several state reps now, Mamdani, which is a broad cross section of recently elected, that claim doesn’t necessarily stand and when it’s raised, we’re told we don’t understand. It counters the broken system claim, on inspection.

I don’t think the protest numbers match the turnout for Trump either. I know there were protests and I know they were big but that’s around 70 million who voted for Trump wasn’t it? Maybe. I’d want a source on that though.

Either way you’re going to have to keep doing them, get lucky with a vote or go down. As we will if it comes to us. This has been going on a long time. They were repeatedly warned for years, were given a trial run, the react vote on the first run was the highest turnout they had, proving turning out works.

Why are the rest of us expected to accept this? We wouldn’t get the excuses accepted. I get a bit tired of this ‘don’t understand’ line.

  • All the advice, if that’s what you want to call it, I gave you is entirely doable by one individual. I didn’t ask you to organise, I said ‘link up’. If I can see some people around here doing that, which I have in some of the political and world subs, I’m sure you can find it.

At no stage have I told you to kill yourself; all that is your extension on your own comments.

it’s going to take a lot more than a general strike

Well, that or pure luck through somehow getting another fair election are your two routes out. The options have run out. You either unprogram yourselves and get together to do it, get that chance at voting it out again or you go down. But at no stage have I suggested you go kill yourself nor did I put the option of civil war and the 2nd Amendment on the table (which btw we got hammered about by you lot as your way out if it ever happened).

Idk. It just seems like you’ve got excuses for everything that could possibly be a solution. Ones you don’t offer other countries, especially those you decide to attack militarily.

Edit: when I say ‘link up’, I said this to another commenter, not you. I told them as an American, I’d vote everything I could, write to friendly reps to encourage them to organise, attend protests and link up with like minded people that want to act. They’re around and some of know the protests are happening. Those protests are a start and they are a good thing; from little things, big things grow.

Just so there’s no confusion on my post.

  • Sooner or later they will have to do something as a collective or some will just get dragged out of their own homes and shot anyway. Isn’t that actually happening?

Never once did I say you were a chicken so stop making shit up and stop making it about one person.

What I would be doing if I was American would be voting every single election I could, participating in any protests I can, writing to the progressive reps who are the only ones likely to listen and linking up with like any minded people at the protests and elsewhere that I can. That’s what you can do and if enough did, you’d probably have enough to pull off a national shutdown. There’s people out there trying to string something together and you can find them if you look.

Here’s some facts on it though: they elected Trump (twice) democratically, so we can’t help. They told us to mind our own business across several platforms before 2016, now they expect us not just to help out or even take care of the entire thing, but to welcome them with open arms in asylum from…an elected government. The increased problems with right wing lunacy we’re suffering are brought to us and financially backed by their political scene. They are where they are because of years of neglecting the vote and that includes institutionalising the oppressive systems they now deal with. They cannot use the 2nd Amendment, the thing they used to remind us for years how oppressed we were when they weren’t, to get out of it. The excuses they expect us to accept for it, they don’t offer other nations. They, like Churchill said, will take every other option but the correct one until they’re left with no option.

You got no alternative anyway outside of pure luck. You’ll either have to or there’ll be authorities dragging you out of your houses anyway. We’ve seen how it ends. The sooner you all get together and do it the easier it’ll be.

  • Yeah they’re lashing out.

They want someone, anyone, other than themselves taking care of it so they can Netflix and chill. That’s why straight up, they refer to the problems their PACs are bringing to our countries, and what we are doing about that.

These are people who think electing Trump should qualify them asylum in other countries and they get very nasty when that is argued down.

They will avoid whatever responsibility they can and push that onto others.

  • Really quick

    A national peaceful shutdown.

Unfortunately you’ve already prefaced the standard excuse, one which wouldn’t exist had enough people gone out to vote when needed. Any argument against that is disproven by the results Republican voters get in all elections around the country and what Mamdani did in its biggest city.

They’re not trivialising any response at all…the fact is, it’s American citizens that have to do something about it, one way or the other. The easiest solution is to vote. The next easiest now is peaceful shutdown.

There’s two solutions. They’ve dropped the ball on one, repeatedly. Now it’s time for the other. It’s not our job to help either; they elected him democratically, we can’t and they told us to keep our nose out of it before 2016.

Sooner or later the good folks need to unite, step up and do something. Yes, it’ll involve hardship, for many. Yes, it’s easy for us to say but we’d do something about this if and when it comes to us. This is why voting is important. But we are under no obligation to separate good Americans from bad ones in this…it’s a collective responsibility as far as outsiders are concerned.

We have grown up…it’s the US that needs to grow up and their people take their national duty seriously. As a collective.

It’s already finding our way to us, thanks to the US. They’re already inundating us with their incessant political garbage, brought to us by their conservative PACs. I note Americans are quick to call that our problem as well, on top of asking for asylum.

All this is why we are sick to death of them and their shit.
