Why even buy a “TV” instead of just a monitor and hook it up to hardware you actually control?

34·9 days agoMuch like Vampires, no sane person should ever invite Oracle into their home: Both are bloodsucking parasitical leeches, and you’ll never be rid of the affliction.

Edit: One person doesn’t like peer review to be part of the scientific process.

Technology@lemmy.world•Spyware maker NSO Group confirms acquisition by US investors | TechCrunchEnglish
41·1 month agoFunny. Normally we call people selling these kinds of products criminals and attempt to shut them down. Turns out those naughty lads were just going about it the wrong way. They should have gone public, floated the company and sold for dollars instead of bitcoin, and suddenly everything would magically have been just fine.
It’s a neat trick, and it works for other unsavory things normally not allowed too: “Unregulated militias and arms trafficking” becomes a “PMC”, “kidnapping and slavery” becomes “prison services” etc.
