Dad is the type to nag nag nag until we either give in or tell him off. Lecturing doesn’t work in my family because of my dad. They know I’m willing to help if they want to change.

I’m using Syncthing-Fork on Android and Syncthing on Linux. Works very well.

Why did you post your blocklist and expect people to read it? What you now have is very reasonable.
To answer your question: I’m here for privacy related issues. Your post is about minimalism which I have no interest in so I’m done with this thread. Best of luck.

No way am I reading the booklet you posted.
I’ll give it a shot. Thanks very much.
I installed Freetube again and it’s working without making any changes. Looks like a different Invidious instance is set as default.
I was using whatever api Freetube comes with. Do you have a recommended of one that works?
If I didn’t torrent, I likely wouldn’t use a vpn. With https sites, my isp can’t really see what I’m up to and my ip is never my actual location.
I can’t get Freetube to work so I’ve been downloading youtube videos with PipePipe on my phone and watching them on my laptop. No way could I do this without a vpn.
Using Proton right now, it’s ok (kind of lacking some features on Linux). Planning on switching to Mullvad before next summer.

This just in, Ring’s CEO admits to being a complete idiot. Look at the cameras in the UK. Mass surveillance does not stop crime.

I’m curious if that user follows a sub for his home town. Could be the recommendation is just a popular spot in that city.

The problem with all cell services is the cell tower triangulation. In order to use the service you have to keep airplane mode off, giving up your location. Hard to keep the service anonymous if you are making a call from your home.
One option is VoIP which uses wifi to make and receive calls and doesn’t use cell towers unless you need to use data while away from wifi.
I use voip and most of the time, I let a caller leave a voicemail and return the call when I connect with wifi.
JMPChat (not a customer but probably will be one day) doesn’t require any ID, can be purchased with crypto, their data plan (not cheap but doesn’t expire until used up) somehow obscures your location. Their app, Cheogram, is available from F-Droid.
If my bank locked me out that often due to my phone OS, I’d switch banks. Sorry I can’t help.
