random drive bys are a thing…? there have been several over the last couple decades. it’s not common, sure, but people do just randomly get killed by someone who wants to kill. this dude is not from the area and never visited. who would’ve targeted him? he lived in PA and was a Canadian citizen. the bar reported no issues between the group and anyone.

you wouldn’t be too far off from the truth lol. our county is conservative but the city proper is liberal. doesn’t matter when the smaller towns surrounding the city are Red.

i live “in the area” and everyone around me is pretty shaken up. it’s been a while since the county had a random murder. what a terrible thing to happen.

you make a valid point. polls are not all equally important. this could be an insignificant one.

you’re not understanding. cultures take longer than 4 years to fully foment. they have to go through a lengthy growing process where they are ignored then embraced, maybe ignored again, it’s a whole thing. cultures start, then stop, then restart; or sometimes they take over and push full steam ahead. you cannot know how this current climate will be received by generations preceding it and what kind of legacy it inspires or leaves behind. it’s horrifying to know that you have four years of this potential growth. why would this wane?

that is not true. it is a snapshot of current voter mentality. if this doesn’t turn around it’s only going to grow and get worse. that’s what this is useful for.

there is nothing shocking about violent homophobia in Africa, unfortunately. it is a very common mindset on that continent. truly, the world is largely hostile to queer folks. they want us silenced and repressed or dead.
