Proposed changes to the GDPR would also allow Alphabet’s Google, Meta, OpenAI and other tech companies to use Europeans’ personal data to train their AI models.

Europe has no ability to be independent. Not sure why they think they can write the rules.
Europe is the USA’s bitch and every bit of news like this just reinforces that fact. You won’t hear very often about the US government caving to EU pressure.
