A federated internet archive, I’m wondering whether I should build it myself. With so many journalists being banned for reporting the gaza genocide we need more ways to combat censorship.

Wish Linux on mobile was just as mature as on desktop.
i don’t even ask for that much, just a basic mobile linux that can emulate android apps with less than 15% performance loss.
To be fair, it’s not much of linux’s fault, but mostly due to shitty hardware restrictions and proprietary drivers
regulatory restrictions?
Yeah, from what I understand, hardware manufacturers need to ensure that no one uses the mobile chip to send on reserved frequencies. And the way they typically do that, is with a proprietary, undocumented driver for the mobile chip. So, you basically need to reverse engineer that for each mobile chip, to be able to make calls and such…
Yes because of isps
can you explain how?
Most isps do not support linux mobile
isn’t mobile linux just linux but you use it on mobile devices? SIM cards have the same architecture to read, and I can use wifi on linux just fine, what do you mean?
ISPs need to approve mobile data antennae. Any phone they don’t like is not approved. Using an existing antenna just brings the problem of propietary drivers.
Remember, your PC does not have mobile data (even if it is a laptop).
can you give me some example on ISPs approving mobile antenna? For the proprietary drivers, they can reverse engineer to bring the needed functionalities of the antenna.
like trem said, I think the problem is because of mobile chipsets not giving the documentation to the public and devs have to reverse engineer it, which they need to own a mobile that has that chip set in order to to so
Same. I’ve got an FLX1s, and I’d love to recommend it to people, but it’s just too buggy. It’s got a lot of potential, and I’m still excited about the project, but I have to reboot the phone a couple of times a day because it just keeps buggin out.
