  • Although the chatbot had been given a “baseline board” to learn the game and identify pieces, it kept mixing up rooks and bishops, misread moves, and “repeatedly lost track” of where its pieces were. To make matters worse, as Caruso explained, ChatGPT also blamed Atari’s icons for being “too abstract to recognize” — but when he switched the game over to standard notation, it didn’t perform any better.

For an hour-and-a-half, ChatGPT “made enough blunders to get laughed out of a 3rd grade chess club” while insisting over and over again that it would win “if we just started over,” Caruso noted. (And yes, it’s kind of creepy that the chatbot apparently referred to itself and the human it was interfacing with as “we.”)

It’s fucking insane it couldn’t keep track of a board…

And it’s concerning how confident it is that it will work, because the idiots asking it stuff will believe it. It’ll keep failing and keep saying next time will work, because it’s built to maximize engagement.

  • Do it, fuck up Twitter, Amazon, meta, and everyone else that shared a stage with trump.

The only language they know is $, if trump is bad for their money, they’ll go against trump.

These are people obsessed with wealth over every thing else, it’s not hard to manipulate them, but when rational adults regain power, we need to tax the ever loving shit out of them because no matter what happens, they’ll always choose “more money”.

  • In many cases the call ends after that. But why?

Because they auto call thousands of people, expecting very few people to even answer.

If they have 5 scammers crammed in a closet somewhere, and they’re all on a line, there’s nowhere for you to go, so the call disconnects if it can’t be transferred. Keeping you on hold costs money.

In some cases, I get someone with an accent I’d identify as Indian. But often the call is disconnected after just a few words.

Number spoofing and auto calls are cheap…

It’s a very low barrier of entry even in countries with low costs of living. It’s not like a scam center has to be on the ball and know what they’re doing.

Lots of them are just bad at it. But that’s still good enough to trick 80 years old enough to make it worth it.

  • It can only tell quality by community engagement and mod pruning.

What a community finds high quality tho is always going to be the lowest common denominator.

So the general path is small communities that have members in sync with each other.

But their quality of content attracts more people, which lowers the bar of the community.

Like, the lowest common denominator is the natural state of a community. To raise it you need to hold higher standards for the members of the community, which is going to get everyone excluded talking about elitism.

And they’d have a valid point.

For profit companies will always choose the one that comes with the most eyeballs. So unless you’re charging people a membership fee, you’ll never see a publicly traded company choose that, and when they do it’s not about quality, it’s about who’s willing to pay the entrance fee to the walled garden.

  • This is America…

A corporation is a person, today’s Ford isn’t the descendant of 1938, it’s the same entity.

So if you’re trying to simplify my thoughts process, it would be:

Once a nazi, always a nazi

There’s some shit you can’t make up for later in life. Not saying you can’t go on to do good things and help people, it’s just rare and will never make up for every past action.

Someone that is truly reformed, won’t let that stop that from trying. Because they truly understand and are sorry. They’re not trying to get into the “good place” they’re doing as much good as they can knowing that no amount will make up for their past.

Which is why it’s so rare.

  • All of the AI craze is predicated on “all it takes is simulating all the neurons”.

So when we got close to that, people dropped billions into AI and keep insisting it’s around the corner

The problem is we don’t know what consciousness is yet, so how the fuck are we gonna re-create?

The smartest living physicist has spent 40 years insisting there’s a quantum compenont, but up until 5 months ago we didn’t see anyway for a quantum process to be stable in a human brain.

We know now microtubules can create a larger tube that functions as a fiber optic cable and allow quantum superposition to be sustained much longer than ever thought.

We probably have century at least before real AI.

There’s a reason Elmo’s “robot” was just a Mechanical Turk

  • Article explains it:

Shortly after Arison was hired as CEO in October, Twitter users unearthed tweets he’d written expressing support for conservative politicians, many of whom had expressed anti-LGBTQ+ views. Robin was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt after he told staff he would change, but says the recent alleged union busting has broken that trust.

They hired a rightwingers as CEO, and even if he changed his mind on social policy, he’s still obviously a Republican on fiscal.

This is a way to get rid of highly paid people since the labor pool for tech ballooned after twitter fired everyone.

He’s hoping for a short dip, then replacing everyone for cheaper salaries.
