In the same vein, this is partly why I’ve never understood the mindset of individual investors. Like, it’s extremely arrogant to seriously believe that you have an edge over highly resourced institutions and billionaire investors who can afford the best analysts and mathematical models on top of their market influence. I can assure you that whatever strategy you have, theirs is better, and they don’t have to play by the same rules. What can you hope to bring to the table when you’re swimming with these sharks?

I’m happy for you. Sadly, my employer retirement plan does not allow me to select my investments. Only target date funds which track the total world stock market. At least it’s diversified.

I really hope you’re right. My employer is using it as a crutch. I don’t think they can stop using AI because they just don’t have enough skilled employees to deliver on their commitments. They would pay nearly any price, and I’m sure they’re not alone.

This is fallout of the broader problem of ultra-extreme centralization and shortsightedness in pursuit of line go up. We eagerly run into a climate catastrophe for the same underlying reason. It’s not a matter of understanding the problem, but a matter of willingness to solve it.

Collectively, we are not willing to solve problems that might require a measure of compromise today.
