“No, maybe that wasn’t it. Words precede and surpass me, they tempt and alter me, and if I am not careful it will be too late: things will be said without my having said them. Or, at the very least, that wasn’t the only thing. My entanglement comes from how a carpet is made of so many threads that I can’t resign myself to following just one; my ensnarement comes from how one story is made of many stories. And I can’t even tell them all— a more truthful word could from echo to echo cause my highest glaciers to crumble down the precipice.” - Clarice Lispector

- Europe’s flagship reform agenda will not be implemented as designed, as the required fiscal and governance transformation is politically blocked and likely to stay that way.
- What Europe will deliver instead is narrower: sector-specific legislation, funding instruments and regulatory streamlining concentrated in defense, energy, clean tech and capital markets.

Whatever kind of country is a firm is also a person! Seems counterintuitive but the law is the law!

Did they even use military bases in ‘Germany and many othet countries’ for their attack?
Yes
The easiest evidence to point to for that is how much shit Spain has gotten for not being gung-ho about the Iran War…

No, don’t listen to my opinions, disagree with them vehemently that is fine.
What you need to stop doing is conflating having an inconsistent, unexamined belief system handed to you by the society around you and the cues you took from it with not having a belief system which is literally impossible as a sentient human trying to make sense of the world around them.
I was kind of switching into a classist tone in my frustration and you are right to point it out, fair enough and genuinely that is a shitty thing to lean into I am sorry, I recognize education is extremely unequal and not knowing things is not a fair basis to judge people on… however please recognize that a lack of your awareness of parts of you does not mean those parts do not exist.

i don’t have a belief system.
facepalm I really hate being reminded constantly of how important a well rounded education with arts, language and critical thinking stressed as well as STEM concepts is…
Yes, you most definitely have a belief system just as much as you most certainly have biases, it is part of being a human being.

Btw: aljazeera is a no-no on Middle East topics here.
Ahh so y’all are a bunch of babies that can’t handle reading media from a different biased lens than your biased lens?
Of course Aljazeera is biased but damn that is pathetic…
Show me an example of Aljazeera having heinously distorted coverage of geopolitics from the recent past, especially in the aftermath of launching the Iran War when extensive coverage from different perspectives in the Middle East is as existentially necessary as it has ever been for people to develop a meaningful picture of what is happening… and until then don’t tell me Aljazeera is a “no-no”. Judge the article by its merits, not the url.

…but how does that help me create a blog post demonstrating I can make a thing in order to get hired? If I just use mostly the thing that already exists and just intelligently hook up a smaller more minimally scoped software to it then it doesn’t really help me get a job…?

The developer for Piefed.Social’s main front end app that they develop literally has censorship baked into the code with hardcoded instance blocks that are not obvious to the user or even a new instance creator who doesn’t look to far into the details…
So what are you saying is, your bubble is nice and you aren’t willing to confront how or why the bubble looks as unchallenging to your belief systems as it does :)

I discovered this after upgrading our instance yesterday, which also upgraded all frontends to their latest versions as well. After I did, our Tesseract frontend stopped working and I noticed immediately as it’s been my primary for a while. Initially I thought it was an API version mismatch, but no, it was much worse.
Someone pointed out that the developer of the frontend added an explicit hidden and unmodifiably blacklist which includes any and all instances to the left of Kissinger. There’s a commit which also explains their specious reasoning about our instance specifically, as it seems we’ve been on their shit list for a bit longer than that.
This instance and its admin staff encourages identity politics, groupthink, mob mentality, and extremist solutions to societal problems. Users who advocate violence are not moderated so long as the admins agree with the target. Caution and critical thinking are advised when interacting with this instance or its users.
When you use tesseract to connect to one blacklisted such instance , you just get a message informing you that Tesseract is “incompatible with that instance” which leads one to think of a technical issue, like an API mismatch, rather than the dev being an opinionated coward.
Isn’t it funny how all the software developed by turbolibs, like Piefed and Tesseract, end up with hidden control mechanisms from developers who think they know better than everyone else? That they don’t just think they deserve to tell you what you should think, but they should manipulate you to think it? Isn’t it funny how libs go on about how bad it is to support lemmy due to the ideology of the devs behind it, and yet lemmy has 0 opinions as a software? It does make one think…
Anyway, I forked - it as one does - and disabled the blacklist, but since this is a massively ideologically compromised software, I’ll doubt I’ll keep this frontend up after Lemmy 1.0. I think we’ll bring up mlmym again now that someone’s maintaining it again.

Yes and to be clear I place blame on US leaders for not understanding and also being proactive about the fact that even though the US was happy to do missile defense in the past… leaving it open so that if the US decides to go batshit crazy Europe wouldn’t be placed into existential crisis without ballistic missile defense is a doomsday scenario waiting to happen.
That being said, with this existential strategic blindspot being what it is, Europe should have understood from the beginning what role the Iran War needed to play for Trump and Putin.

Damn every time I see your name pop up I remember how low quality your input on things is.

That is a silly question if I have ever seen one.

Don’t forget Lemmy.World!

No one calls anarchists tankies
Yes they do. All the time. Ask me how I know.
You know because George Soros paid you to tell that lie probably!

My bathroom has a trap door to the main office!

Maybe you just don’t want to admit you are becoming more conservative while everyone else moves on to more logical perspectives?

Lemmy.world is clearly run by a bunch of incompetent, at least slightly bigoted, idiots and it really shows in the overall quality of the community that results.
I think the most toxic thing about Lemmy.World is a pervasive belief that stricter rules and more automation will make everything better and they are just so painfully, blatantly wrong about it that it hurts.

Maybe don’t allow free reign for the US to use your military bases?
Germany and many other countries in the EU think the US and Israel are doing “the dirty work” for Europe in Israel and Iran, and this is the oldest play in the European playbook there has ever been, the US learned all of this from Europe.
Stop pretending like y’all are above this, Europe just realizes that the US has been given all the main lines in this scene of the play so they can just be a prop in the background of the set while still contributing to the production they support and in their heart absolutely wish they could play the main part in themselves…
I am not saying the US isn’t to blame here, obviously it is primarily to blame, but I am getting tired of Europe’s complacency in the face of WW3.
