GPMI is not any better with all its “security” functions. It’s security against the user, the american way but in chinese flavour.
it also does not sound to be good idea to have high power delivery so near to normal signal wires, noise, shorts, more power strain on the graphics hardware, and all that.
By your logic type PD spec is stupid because it is also used in PC. The use cases extend beyond PC. Think video wall system where cabling can be messy and pretty much everyone got their own standard. This would allow a single daisy chain and simpler cabling.

How would you even know about this? What are you, some kinda nerd?
It makes it to the news before. The HDMI forum is understandably upset by that
Mandatory fuck the HDMI form

displayport for the win.
Might be a stupid question but why not displayport instead?
Bigger power delivery spec. The hope is that it should be possible to drive a huge display from a single cable for data and power
it sounds stupid to force through the computer a meaningful amount of energy that is only intended for a peripheral
