How Sweden lost its soul – and stopped being Sweden
Nothing new. Kristersson (of the “Conservative” party (M)oderaterna) being Kristersson, the right wing being the right wing. They have been running Sweden more or less for twenty years now, doing the market liberal dismantling and selling out and privatising everything they can and running the country in the shitter except for the economic elite and the ruthless capitalists. The last four years have been a right wing coalition with the nationalists (SD) as a “support party”, being able to force their political agenda while appearing as opposition in parallel when it doesn’t work out. The Christian Democrats (KD) have been touring together with the nationalists already and their leader is a republican party fangirl. The (L)iberal party leader hugged the nationalist leader a few months ago, welcoming collaboration despite the nationalist party pretty much dismissing all liberal politics, but then again so have L as they are now the “Forbid Everything and yay surveillance” flavour of liberalism. The only one to mildly oppose the nationalists on the right are the ©enter party that are profiling themselves as a right wing green alternative, which is ironic considering they are the old farmers party that fought against any sort of environmental regulations for farmers.
But the left wing is not great either. The (S)ocial democrats have been doing the centrist creep since the early nineties and have participated in the market liberalism when it was popular. They have become a populist shell of the solidarity and workers party they once were. The Left (V) are the old Communist party and still so on paper, but their politics today are pretty much in line with the old school (S), though they still have some old totalitarian nutters in their ranks.
The Greens (MP) are theoretically outside the spectrum but clearly left leaning, as it coincides with their values and pragmatics when it comes to environmental issues.
This coming election seems to be very close and it’s going to be a chiller. If the right wing gets in power with the nationalists, shit is going to get so much worse.
You can replace Sweden with Western World, or Nato countries or EU countries or whatever. It’s the same development everywhere.
It‘s almost as if billionaires who own the media landscape are plotting to dismantle democracy by giving the monster who screams the loudest and most violent things the most attention.
Capitalism tends to reward the most sociopathic and psychopathic of behaviors with wealth and power under the guise of “it’s just business”, because morals/ethics are expensive, and greed/crime/corruption pays. Anything that isn’t explicitly illegal is fair game, so the criminals and corrupt prosper (and even when they do extremely illegal shit, they use their wealth to corrupt their way out of justice).
Those who succeed hoard their wealth. Wealth = power, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. As their wealth/power grows, they grow more and more corrupt and sociopathic/psychopathic. They use their wealth to corrupt, coerce, and exploit everyone and everything (like the legislative, executive, and judiciary), until they own the entire political class, legal and justice system; grooming each generation from the big club of wealthy private social circles and schools.
It’s a vicious self-selecting cycle that preferences the most greedy and selfish, and they collude to keep moral and ethical people out of the club. They also pass on their corruption, greed and sociopathy/psychopathy to their children; both psychologically and via generational wealth/power.
Basically, “liberal democracy” is an oxymoron, because under capitalism 99% of businesses and corporations are their own oligarchy/plutocracy, competing with other oligarchy/plutocracy in a greediest psychopath takes all game. It’s actually rather psychotic to believe that democracy can coexist with a system that is 99% oligarchy/plutocracy, but the sociopaths and psychopaths benefit from making you hate your fellow rats who are trading their labor to survive the same rat race, the same as you, than the people so wealthy they can rape children on their private island with impunity; so wealthy/powerful that they own our intelligence agencies, and their right to rape children is protected by the state.
