    That’s a funny policy. Doesn’t it just incentivise gambling? Why not give the money to seniors unconditionally?

      Shhh people have to earn their ROI on their taxes. Can’t just be spending tax dollars to promote the general welfare all willy-nilly.

        In the Thai context, you have to wonder if it’s very specific families getting an ROI out of this, even.

        It’s also possible it was some power figure’s random idea, I guess, and just got passed based on that. Hanlon’s razor and all.

    This is called Solving The Wrong Problem™.

    Getting a more-objective population who “invest” less in rigged-against-them “games” would be more strategic,

    … but what government would intentionally reduce its lottery-profits?
