A bit older but something I didn’t see until now showing how US Republicans are just the worst and the dumbestas Canadian tourism is DOA.

Not sure this guy understands that if that actually happened, no Republican would ever win the presidency again, and the House and Senate would instantly flip to the Democrats.

Cute of you to assume “Canada” would be given states rights. No no no my friend. At worst we’d be a Guam, or a Puerto Rico. With no political power whatsoever. At best, we’d be a neverending insurgency fought in the tree line.

That’s disheartening. I’ve been under the impression that even most of your conservatives generally find Republicans to be completely cuckoo. Is that not the case?

That’s becoming less and less the case I think, but we rejected their politics in the voting booth, so time will tell

we rejected their politics in the voting booth

This time. Polls last fall had PP set to win. Then Trump came along and we rejected it all. But now Carney, who rode to a win on “elbows up” appears to be putting his elbows down and is caving to Trump. I don’t expect he’ll win a second time.

Yeah, it’s not encouraging, I’m starting to get my shit together for the inevitable rise of evangelistic corporate terrorism in Canada

Unfortunately, we have a first-past-the-post election system in most of the country (a very few places have ranked-choice). What that means is that most of the time, voting for anyone besides a Democrat or a Republican amounts to throwing your vote away.

MB would be a swing state that leans left, SK would be 55:45 R, AB would be 70:30 R, ON would be a bellwether swing state like NY was for centuries. QC, the coastals, and the Arctics would be blue states.

I mostly agree but I’d say about would be closer to 90:10 R. I’ve got family and friends there and it’s very conservative. I don’t actually know a single liberal Albertan.

The rest is spot on though.

For context, we don’t have a single state that is 80:20 R. WV/WY are the closest we have, and even then it’s basically 70:30.
