I use a Windows VM for apps not available on Linux and just want to cut out all the telemetry possible.

AtlasOS is installed as a Ameliorated Playbook and makes a ton of opinionated changes that aren’t privacy or necessarily performance related. Disabling the Windows 11 right click menus in favor of the legacy one, disabling window shadows, changing the wallpaper, etc. Privacy+ looks appealing, I wanna know if anyone has tried both and can tell me differences, like if one or the other improves privacy more.

As terrible as Windows is, I would not trust repackaged Windows ISOs since those could be filled with all sorts of nasty things. I’m not saying these particular ones have bad intentions, they very likely have good ones, but if they were compromised in some way, that would be bad. If you really do need to use some Windows apps, just use regular Windows in a VM (ideally without an internet connection).

edit: nvm, these aren’t repackaged Windows ISOs! They’re also open-source, which is cool.

Neither AtlasOS or Privacy+ use repackaged ISOs, they distribute programs called playbooks which are installed after setting up Windows from a regular ISO. They’re both open source.

Oh ok, never mind then! I must have watched a video on some other thing (the “debloated” Windows ISOs, I thought these were similar but apparently not!)
