Just because people use JavaScript for bad things doesn’t mean it’s not also necessary for the other things though

It’s not my taste. I am a software engineer and have to build these things. there are features you just can’t do with out JavaScript. Features that are expected from modern apps.

If you need a basic form you don’t need JavaScript but if you want to change anything on the page after it’s already loaded you do. That’s a huge limitation for any kind of app.

It’s not because of the scrapers though. It’s probably because JavaScript is needed to make the page interactive in most cases. Almost everything is a single page web app now you can’t do that without JavaScript.

People could make old style sites where there is a full page reload every time you click a link but they aren’t as nice.

One thing to note is Facebook bought a ton of other companies. So some of those people didn’t choose to work there at all they just stayed because they needed to keep their job. Some may even be trapped by circumstances like visas or medical needs. Companies don’t only screw over their users. They buy people and screw them too.

That’s why these conversations happen in person on a golf course and not online in slack or email

They probably would do those things if they could afford to live comfortably and had a little extra disposable income but in today’s world every time you turn around someone is screwing you out of money. There isn’t anything left for fun stuff. Especially when the fun stuff company is doing some of the screwing lol

I never said it would solve it but until it’s solved I would rather not also give up access to communication with my child in an emergency.

I actually would argue this is a fair comparison though. Phones are for contact with others unlike the other things you mentioned they can also be very helpful in an emergency. A teacher will want to contact their family to let them know they are safe just the same as a student would. I think that’s where the real issue is. We have so many school shootings and parents want to be able to connect with their children in those situations. It may be distracting for learning but at the end of the day as a parent the school shootings are alarming and no one is doing anything about it and this makes it seem scarier from that perspective. No one is even addressing that part of it
