Well yeah, that’s what being overwhelmed means

eh, kinda? Decentralisation means one instance can learn from the failures of another, and there’s bo one thing that can bring the entire Fediverse down. But that’s a worst case scenario.
What I fear is this: A spike of interest in the fediverse leads to many instances being overwhelmed, and the general newbie experience quickly turns many people away, leading to lots of people leaving with a sour taste. In the meantime, instances successfully adapt and new ones spring up, but most users aren’t coming back.
Imo that’s a more realistic scenario than some grandiose failure, and you could say it’s already happened several times.

Well you have to wonder if at a support so high Wikimedia couldn’t skip the “fight and win” stage to earn some goodwill which might get them more favourable terms. In open confrontation, everyone loses. Takes energy away from everything else and generates a ton of bad publicity.

Been a while but since this post I’ve actually had to get a spare part and had no trouble, years after launch

Unfortunately the principle of degressive proportionality of votes per country to population of country is enshrined in EU law. It’s free to interpret that principle as it wishes but it can’t do away with it. My favourite proposal got axed in the 2010s: it would have given citizens two votes, one for a national list and one for a transnational list - I think the idea was that 75% of seats would be filled by winners of national lists and 25% by those of transnational lists. Unfortunately it died along with many other proposed reforms.

Wow. I got the 4 at launch and honestly never had any problems except calls get fucked up more frequently recently. Didn’t know they stopped selling parts, what’s the point?
Oh god. Okay, thanks
