Iran’s top diplomat said Tuesday that the tentative deal to end the war with the United States would require Israel to withdraw from Lebanon — a condition Israel has already rejected.
Israel and the Lebanese government have entered into their own U.S.-mediated direct negotiations, of which Hezbollah was not a part. Those talks have yielded several announced ceasefires that were never implemented on the ground.
Gawd damn…
The world “slam” gets thrown around a lot, but that’s one hell of a dig
Ceasefire typically don’t reverse territorial changes/occupations.
They are supposed to stop further aggression allowing both parties to discuss the dispuited/occupied territory and all other aspects of the conflict.
Please don’t read this as support for Israel’s actions, it’s just odd to expect a ceasefire to mean a full military withdrawal. It’s better to think of it as a pause.
Of course it’s not like Israel has ever respected any ceasefire. So maybe this is all a moot point anyway

Hard to implement a ceasefire when one of the parties involved in the fighting wasn’t invited to the ceasefire talks.
Also hard when the ceasefire doesn’t stop one party occupying a solid chunk of the other’s country and bulldozing villages…
