Iran has attacked Oman, which is a neutral country. I doubt that kicking the US out would help at all.

Its hard to claim neutrality when you host military base of the aggressor.

That’s a silly analysis. It’s the US/Israel axis that started this war of choice against Iran, and Iran has very few realistic options for defending its sovereignty against a freaking superpower. Creating costs for US allies like us is not pretty but honestly what else can they do, sit and take it?

The fault for this escalation lies squarely in US/Israeli hands. We as Europeans need to do anything in our power to stop them. Spain shows it can be done.

Edit: otherwise we are risking getting dragged into Trump’s Big Stupid War, especially if Iran hits Bulgaria and Article 5 is triggered.

Going to war with the US for fucking Iran. Hell no.

Just stay on the sideline and do not dragged into this. Like exactly what European governments are doing, is certainly the right choice here.

I’m not arguing for going to war with the US, wtf.

Spain shows it can be done.

And also shows how. Our current stance is not staying in the sideline. Bulgaria and the UK at least have allowed US refueling in their territories. This increases the risks to Europe. Spain has done the right thing: no cooperation with illegal wars. None. If the Americans want to keep at it, let them figure it out.

Technically Spain is sanctioning Iran and not the US too. Refueling US aircraft in the EU has likewise been something that happened before the war and will do so after. It is after all in Europes best interest that US aircraft and weapons are used against Iran and not against Greenland.

Just because European governments aren’t shooting at Iran doesn’t mean they’re “sitting on the sidelines.” European cooperation with America in its feud with Iran (through diplomatic isolation, sanctions, etc) is a crucial part of what made the current shitshow possible. Short of a European JCPOA (that’s actually followed), European countries are almost all on America’s side here.

Technically not, but neither Tehran nor Washington is a true friend of Europe. In fact the current war is in many ways amazing for Europe. It destroys weapons stockpiles, which Iran could have sold to Russia and also keeps the US busy, which means no invasion of Greenland. The big issue is the oil price though.

Even that - in the mid- to long run - could prove to have some positive effects as it speeds up a shift towards renewables

        That’s a silly analysis.

        Thank you for your wisdom.

Spain shows it can be done.

Spain’s PM is just focused to distract from his endless stream of corruption cases. He has no interest in anything else other than himself.

More silliness. But let’s play: let’s say you are 100% right and Sanchez is just distracting the electorate. Let’s give you that. Well, Sanchez’s “distractions” have as an objective result to resist and slow down Trump’s Big Stupid War. GOOD. I’ll take that deal. Let’s all distract our electorates by taking a hard antiwar stance in Europe. Carney in Canada has shown that a healthy dose of antimaga-antiamericanism can actually unify and galvanize nations. Let’s do that.

Thanks again. I see you’re just spreading you propaganda as it is shown also by your post history. You’re more interested in spreading pro-authoritarian narratives than in anything positively related to Europe. This is waste of time.

I described what you wrote as silly and offered counter arguments which you’ve only sidestepped.

You are describing me as … someone interested in authoritarianism somehow insidiously pushing narratives. That’s just mudslinging. You’re resorting to ad hominem by making assumptions about my intentions because you have nothing more substantial to offer.
