I installed Pop!_OS on a Thinkpad in 2020 and have been using that install as my daily driver without issue. That includes multiple LTS release upgrades. The key is to stick with LTS releases. It’s boring because you do not get the latest and greatest features, but the payoff is rock solid stability.
EDIT: As far as distros, I stick with Pop!_OS for myself, Linux Mint for my wife (we’re both IT professionals), and LMDE for my servers.
Server or workstation?

9·12 days agoMy firm helps keep a good percentage of this country’s shitty infrastructure from collapsing and the budgets these projects are working under are laughable. But that’s ok. I sleep better at night knowing we’re spending all our money on Palantir instead.

Remember 9/11. Never forget, right?
This is where the creation of a department to “secure” our “homeland”, and laws like the “patriot” act where always going to lead. This is where selling off your rights and freedoms for a false sense of security was always going to lead.
Don’t worry, it’ll get much worse.

43·15 days ago…gross negligence manslaughter…
Called it. The weapon was a Glock. They DO NOT fire unless you pull the trigger. The most generous scenario has him pointing the loaded weapon at her with his finger on the trigger as he “shows it to her”. That is negligent manslaughter and it is the most generous analysis. How this piece of shit avoided being indicted in Texas is crazy and infuriating.

But OpenSuse is a thing, and European as fuck. Start there.
