Is Sable worth getting into? My friends and I have been using Element for a hot second now and it works good enough for us. Like if it does everything we need, so how is Sable better?

Element.

Moved onto Matrix a while ago because of this. Gonna be real, Discord is better but all Matrix asked me for was hardware verification. I fucking hate this ID verification thing. Like we are going to see a sharp spark in identity theft going forward.
…and shit, I might be part of it. I had to verify with an ID to get my CompTIA tests, which I passed. I am still arguing with Pearson to delete my personal data, but I might be in the shitter with all the others getting their identity stolen.

Wait, type shit? I legit didn’t know.

Ublock Origin Lite still works on Ungoogled Chromium for me, at least.

Nah man, we gotta get the cameras RIGHT in his house. What if someone gets in we couldn’t see from the outside?

Oh no! This guy is in danger! We should set up a ton of security cameras around his house so we can all keep an eye on him and make sure he’s safe!

As much as I do think this is good to push for, the fuck do they mean by the “strictly” necessary thing? I’m from the US and this is what started the shit. IT’S STRICTLY NECESSARY WE STOP KIDS FROM ACCESSING PORN SITES and then it snowballed. I even had to fucking verify just to take a CompTIA test much to my chagrin. I passed btw.
Been messaging the company to ensure they delete my shit before I’m a victim of identity theft.

Probably a good thing, honestly. We all need to be more offline anyways.

It’s why I moved onto Lemmy. I can’t stand new Reddit.
Did a gas leak happen in here? Why are the comments on this post so weird?
Maybe some people are a bit too ‘all or nothing’ when it comes to privacy. Youtube isn’t the best, but what Gamers Nexus does is incredible investigative journalist work and they should be celebrated for it. I’d have had no idea about this had they not done the work they did. Fuck Google, for sure, but let’s not toss the baby out with the bathwater.
Privacy is really more a spectrum than anything. A spectrum of what are you willing to deal with and how much is it going to impact your life. At least that is how I see that. Anyways, on that note, fuck LG.
