I’ve dumped FF for Zen and Waterfox.
Zen’s only downside is that it can’t play some DRM media like some sports websites. Waterfox can, so I use it for that.

I wonder if Waterfox allows this. It’s MOSTLY Firefox but without going down the AI trash route.
As I understand it, these changes don’t affect browsers that use FF as a base, so Zen Browser might not be affected.
I’ve been trying it out this week, and it’s good. And can still use all the FF extensions.
My 1070 still plays Final Fantasy XIV just fine, so I think I keep my $3,400, thanks.
We don’t care about professional coders any more. You know, the people making all these “breakthroughs” we are so happy about.
AMD now has “Max” chips and Dell now has “Pro” and “Max” laptops.
Everyone copying Apple.
Every car company has a financial incentive to, every year, say it’s a “couple years off” to keep investors intrigued.
Back when we all were a little hoodwinked by elon and didn’t know he was a complete, lying asshole, he said around 2014 or so it’d take just a couple of years. Then another couple. Then another couple.
I don’t really have faith it’ll ever be there in our lifetimes in a way that’s I’d trust.
Oh, I get it now.
These “mysterious drones” have all been flying from the police this entire time so articles like this will be written which in turn helps the police get more funding.
Then the moment the police get their kill drones they’ll somehow solve the case!
(This is all tinfoil hat nonsense, of course)
“We made Siri faster but each request now drains a lake.”
For me the best new feature on macOS is the ability to natively put the temperature in the menu bar. You click on it, and it gives you some more info and from there can launch the full weather app.
It’s a small addition and could have been there for a decade, but I like it a lot.
genAI is currently very stupid, and each new version is having diminishing returns on what the models can provide.
I’m really not that worried, though some jobs may shift to instead of simply doing the job the worker will be required to fix all the mistakes the genAI came up with.
The result for the people who block them is still the same, though: they no longer see the troll garbage.
I look at it this way: I don’t let in the crazy person on the street screaming racist garbage into my house, so I also don’t have to listen to or engage with that person on the internet, either. That doesn’t make my house an “echo chamber.”
For a long time I tried to treat “internet people” with some level of “respect” so to say. That is, I didn’t spend time blocking people and whatnot. But now? Screw em. I don’t have time to listen to nonsense, so if someone tries to come in to a conversation in bad faith, it’s very easy to block and move on.
Or on short-form social media like Bsky or Masto or whatever if someone posts a racist thing. Or a bigoted thing. Block and move on.
Those trolls live off of engagement so just don’t give it to them. And those same trolls are the ones complaining about “echo chambers.” “Waaa, no one wants to listen to my racist nonsense. It’s an echo chamber!” No, you are just a trash human, and no one is obligated to listen to you.
Another problem is they ruined their own search with AI.
Kicked themselves right in the nuts.
This reminds me that someone set up a donation link via actblue where donations via that link come with the message that she and her campaign should set up their own mastodon server.
They are up to $40,000 as I type this.
So if you were thinking of donating anyway, you can go through here to point that money to a “cause” you want her to consider. May not happen, but at least we might get it on their radar.

The originator of this started with this Masto post:
Sure, Jan.
